Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is preparing to make a boatload of cash in free agency, although it seems like he is struggling with his upcoming decision.
Mitch Marner is easily one of the best players in the NHL; however, he has a knack for falling short when the lights get a bit too bright for his liking.
His playoff performances have been lackluster, but with 102 points last season, numerous teams will be looking to sign him as soon as he becomes a free agent on July 1st.
Unfortunately, this will all come at the expense of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are probably going to lose the superstar winger for absolutely nothing.
Recent reports suggest that the forward is done with the franchise and won't even return their calls. However, a new report seems to suggest there is still a sliver of hope.
Is Mitch Marner staying in Toronto?
According to Elliotte Friedman of '32 Thoughts,' Marner has offered the Maple Leafs a meeting once free agency begins on July 1st.
Many around the league are stunned by all of this, noting that a meeting between Marner and the Leafs is nonsensical. If Marner was serious about staying, he would be negotiating in good faith already.
I think, and again nobody is confirming this, I think the Maple Leafs were offered one of the meetings.

Clearly, we have reached the point of no return as it pertains to good faith and common sense. Instead, this has become a game of chicken.
If you are the Leafs, it's probably for the best to decline the meeting and just move on. Both sides need a fresh start, and the sooner everyone realizes that, the better.
Only time will tell whether or not this supposed meeting is productive, or a complete disaster.
