Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jani Hakanpaa has played all of two games for the team this season and it doesn't look like things are getting any better.
When the Leafs signed Jani Hakanpaa to a one-year deal in the offseason, it was known that he had some significant issues with his knee.

However, the team still went ahead and signed him, which has turned out to be a huge mistake.
The Finnish defenseman has played two games with the Maple Leafs this season and has spent the rest of that time rehabbing.
In a podcast episode from NHL insider Chris Johnston, there were some brutally honest truths espoused about Hakanpaa. Simply put, the Leafs made a huge mistake.
"He's only been healthy enough to play two games for the Leafs this season. He played two games in the American Hockey League on a conditioning stint with the Toronto Marlies... This doesn't say good things about the status of his health or potential availability for the Leafs."
Craig Berube has stated time and time again that he does not have a timeline on Hakanpaa's return and he may never have one.
After the 4 Nations Face-Off, the playoffs will be about six weeks away, and fans are wondering whether or not the defenseman will ever become available.
Even if he is available, he will be vulnerable and probably won't get very much ice time.
At the end of the day, this was one of the biggest mistakes Brad Treliving has made thus far, although Hakanpaa won't be on the team next year, so it's not worth sweating about.
