The NHL trade deadline is set to take place on Friday and fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs are hoping for something big from the franchise.
This is one of their best opportunities to win a Stanley Cup in a decades and the fans want to see a big move that can put this team over the edge.
While there is no doubt that Treliving is focused on procuring a bottom-six center for the Maple Leafs, he is also interested in going out and getting a depth defenseman.
In fact, according to Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts, it was revealed that the general manager has practically been harassing the Seattle Kraken about veteran blue liner Adam Larsson.
Friedman notes that Brad Treliving has been so aggressive in his pursuit of Larsson that the Kraken had to tell him to back off.
This is fascinating because Larsson has a new deal kicking in next season worth $21 million over four years.
Moreover, the Toronto Maple Leafs have also been showcasing interest in a pair of Seattle Kraken forwards, Yanni Gourde and Brandon Tanev.
You don't want to offend the teams you are doing business with, and Brad Treliving is at risk of doing just that if he continues to get on the Kraken's bad side. Although we doubt that things are that dire.
A good general manager sticks their nose wherever they can to find ways to improve their team and it appears as though this is exactly what Treliving is doing.
It is an admirable pursuit, and we can only imagine it has put him that much closer to making a big deal at the deadline.
