The Worst General Manager in Toronto Maple Leafs History has Been Crowned
After fans named Cliff Fletcher the greatest general manager in the history of the Toronto Maple Leafs, they are going after who they believe is the worst.
Throughout the history of the
Toronto Maple Leafs, there have been a wide variety of executives. Some have been good, others have been downright terrible.
Following this poll, the Leafs Nation followed it up by asking fans to name the worst general manager in the history of the franchise.
This led to an answer that a lot of fans were probably expecting. Of course, we are talking about John Furguson Jr.
John Ferguson Jr. remains hated by Toronto Maple Leafs fans
Ferguson Jr. became the general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs at the age of 36 back in 2003, and he made numerous poor decisions.
For instance, he fired Pat Quinn back in 2006 and never made a single solid trade or signing. He was let go in 2008, and in the eyes of fans, it was well overdue.
Since that time, Ferguson has continued to work in the hockey world, although it has been difficult for him to shake the stench of his Maple Leafs stint.
Currently, he is the assistant general manager for the Utah Mammoth, which is a solid gig, but it is not the Maple Leafs.
Ultimately, Ferguson Jr. will simply never be liked in Toronto, and that is something he has probably already grappled with.
Hopefully, we never reach this point with the likes of Brad Treliving.
