Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies has been sensational throughout his first two seasons in the league, and this season could be even bigger for him.
Matthew Knies is one of those players who is going to have a long and prosperous career in the NHL. The guy is phenomenal on both sides of the ice and continues to be a fan favorite.
However, going into next season, we are being made privy to some stats that could very well prove just how valuable Knies really is.
Matthew Knies gets up for the best teams
If you are a Leafs fan, you are aware that the team's biggest competition is in the state of Florida, with the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
However, Knies seems to really elevate his game whenever he is forced to play against a Florida-based team. In 31 games, he has 28 points against the Panthers and Lightning combined.

Past results do not predict future results, so Maple Leafs fans should not get ahead of themselves too quickly.
Having said that, this is all very good for the Toronto Maple Leafs, as they are going to need a player who can stand up to the best teams in the NHL.
There are some pretty incredible teams out there, and the Maple Leafs are going to be in tough when it comes to getting a good seeding in the postseason.
Either way, we are looking forward to watching Knies play some hockey this season.
