With the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to bolster the team's front office, the franchise has opted to hire a former player who spent time with the Toronto Marlies.

Kyle Clifford is a player who joined the Toronto Maple Leafs during the pandemic and eventually came back after a brief stint in St. Louis.
Over the last few years, he has been taking on a mentorship role with the Toronto Marlies, where he has been the key veteran holding that team together.
Recently, Clifford was spotted at Maple Leafs development camp, which led to some questions about what he might be doing there.

Today, it was revealed that the Maple Leafs hired Clifford to their front office as part of the player development staff.
Going forward, the former NHL star is going to be able to mentor the youth and try to turn some of these prospects into bona fide NHLers.
It is not going to be an easy task, but Clifford certainly has the credentials to make something like this happen.
Well, it's the end of an era... And this one hits a little harder than many others.

Kyle Clifford's playing career has come to an end. He's ready (and excited) for the next chapter, as he's accepted a role in player development with the Maple Leafs.

Two Stanley Cups, 750+ NHL games (and nearly 1,000 combined as a pro), his number retired in the OHL -- a true class act, always.

I've said it many times, he's in the Mayor's Manor Hall of Fame and one of my three favorite people in all of hockey. The mother f'n man in every sense of the word.

Overall, the Toronto Maple Leafs are gearing up for training camp in a few weeks from now.
Here, we will see potential stars like Easton Cowan and Ben Danford take to the ice in an attempt to make the team.
Only time will tell whether or not Clifford will be considered a success in his new role.
