Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson has reportedly been on the trading block, and there is a real world in which the Toronto Maple Leafs try to make a play.
Jason Robertson is a player who had 109 points just a few seasons ago. Furthermore, he has had 80 points in each of the last two seasons, making him one of the league's best players.
The Leafs need to take a big swing for a top-six forward, and with Robertson available, he would be the best option on the market.
Jason Robertson to the Toronto Maple Leafs?
According to reporter Sean Shapiro, teams like the Maple Leafs shouldn't get too ahead of themselves, as the price is exorbitant.
Essentially, the Stars want a roster player, among other assets. Whether that be draft picks, or some prospects who could play for the Stars in the future.
Yes, the Stars did look at what a return could be on Jason Robertson; it was always gonna be either for a roster player...or...part of some other bigger move
To be quite frank, the Toronto Maple Leafs do not have a lot to offer to the Dallas Stars, and for that reason, a Jason Robertson trade is very unlikely.
Although it would be cool to see and would certainly improve the team, general manager Brad Treliving would have to make a miracle happen.
Overall, it feels unlikely that a Jason Robertson trade will be made prior to the start of the season, although this is the NHL, and stranger things have happened.
Either way, this adds a new layer of intrigue to the NHL offseason that has previously been sorely missing.
