With free agency slowing to an absolute crawl, the Toronto Maple Leafs have announced the signing of three forwards who are familiar to the organization.
Toronto Maple Leafs fans are very aware of the fact that the team has not been able to do much this offseason, or at least not in the last couple of weeks.
However, there are always players available, and there are always moves to be made, especially when it comes to the AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.
The Marlies were busy during the month of July, and now, after a brief hiatus, the team is back to signing players and filling out the roster.
Toronto Marlies make numerous free agency signings
In a statement today, the Marlies revealed that they signed three forwards to contracts. This includes Brandon Baddock and Alex Nylander, who played for the team last season.
They also signed Luke Grainger. All of these were one-year deals, and they certainly help this roster take shape.
The AHL has become quite competitive over the years, and the Marlies are hoping to field a team that can compete for the Calder Cup.
Of course, the only player here who has a real chance of being called up to the Maple Leafs is Alex Nylander, who does have NHL experience under his belt.
Whether or not the Leafs bring him up at all, still remains to be seen. His one issue has been his speed and keeping up with the play.
Now that we are firmly in the month of August, it will be interesting to see what kind of moves the Leafs make, going forward.
The fans are hoping for some big swings, although there is no guaranteet that this is going to happen.
