In five career NHL games,
Dennis Hildeby has a record of 3-2 with a goals-against average of 3.18 and a save percentage of .891.
Joseph Woll chosen over Dennis Hildeby against the Montreal Canadiens
With the Maple Leafs taking on the Canadiens tonight, there were talks that perhaps Hildeby would get the star.
After all, Woll has played two games in a row, and seldom does he get three starts in five days.
Moments ago, it was reported by Sportsnet reporter Luke Fox that Woll would, indeed, get the start tonight. Of course, this means Hildeby will have to sit on the bench, yet again.
This current iteration of the Montreal Canadiens is on a heater right now, so perhaps it makes sense that the Leafs would rather go with the experienced netminder.
Regardless, one has to wonder when Hildeby will get an opportunity to play.
The Leafs play against the
Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday, which is not an ideal matchup for Hildeby.
Whatever the case may be, Hildeby has shown that he isn't serviceable against good teams, which puts the Maple Leafs at a huge disadvantage until
Anthony Stolarz comes back.
If one thing is for certain, it is that the Hildebeast needs a bit more time in the AHL before he can truly play at the NHL level.
