This morning, the Utah Hockey Club and the Toronto Maple Leafs completed a trade for winger Matias Maccelli, who is now going to the Mecca of hockey in Canada.
With all eyes on the Mitch Marner sign and trade, the Toronto Maple Leafs made a surprising move just moments ago as Matias Maccelli is now going to Toronto for a third-round pick.
The former Utah Hockey Club forward had 17 goals and 57 points a season ago, but only had eight goals and 10 assists last season.

Minutes after Elliotte Friedman announced the trade, it was revealed by Frank Seravalli that the third-round pick was a conditional one in 2027.
However, if Macelli can get back over the 51-point mark and the Leafs make the playoffs, then this draft pick will become a second-rounder in 2029.
