Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is supposedly going to be part of a sign-and-trade to the Las Vegas Golden Knights, but now, some insiders aren't sure.
A Mitch Marner sign-and-trade is reportedly being worked on right now, but as it stands, no one knows whether or not it will go down.
Insiders like Elliotte Friedman believe it is possible, but the Leafs and the Golden Knights would have to work extra hard to make it a reality.
With free agency beginning on Tuesday at noon, time is running out, and if the Leafs can't get something done, they may just lose their superstar winger for nothing.
What is happening with Mitch Marner?
At this time, there appears to be some real confusion as it pertains to the existence of a Marner trade. For instance, Nick Alberga claims the likeliest scenario is Marner testing the market before a trade can happen.
Things can change, but at this point, it seems like the likeliest scenario to play out is Marner goes to market and chooses Vegas.

Meanwhile, Darren Dreger has doubled down on his reporting over the last 24 hours or so. He expects a trade will happen soon.
That's currently where we're at, ongoing talks between Vegas and the Maple Leafs. There's no guarantee that they get something done I expect they will, but there's no guarantee.
He said the same thing this morning, noting that it could be done as early as today, and that we may see Marner sign in Vegas for a total of seven years or more.
