Darren Dreger Teases Earth-Shattering Moves by the Toronto Maple Leafs & Many Others
Darren Dreger has been trying to keep his reports about free agency fairly conservative, but with July 1st just a day away, the Toronto Maple Leafs are cooking.
Over the weekend, a bombshell report from Elliotte Friedman suggested that the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Las Vegas Golden Knights were working on a Mitch Marner sign-and-trade.
This was a massive report, especially when you consider how free agency is just a day away, and there were fears that the Leafs would lose the superstar winger for nothing.
Now, tampering charges are seemingly involved, and with the Golden Knights making a trade last night, no one knows what kind of day we are going to be in for.
Darren Dreger hints at what's next in free agency
Having said that, Darren Dreger of TSN seems pretty confident that some huge moves are going to be made throughout today, with July 1st less than 24 hours away.
Although he didn't confirm what was going to happen, he did say that he thinks it will be one of the most memorable pre-July 1st days we've seen in a while. Simply put, a day that hockey fans will remember.
I think today is going to be one of those days where we say, We're in one now.
Of course, players can only sign contracts as of July 1st at noon. This means in order for today to be memorable, there would have to be a whole lot of trades.
One has to wonder if that means we will see the Mitch Marner sign-and-trade take place, or if the forward will forego the Golden Knights for meetings with other teams.
Needless to say, all of this is going to be fascinating, and the fans cannot wait to see what takes place. Fans can only hope that Brad Treliving has himself a monster day.
