Joseph Woll is taking a leave of absence from the Toronto Maple Leafs, which has led the team to create a goaltending contingency plan for the upcoming weeks.
With goaltender
Joseph Woll taking an indefinite leave of absence, there is some uncertainty around the Toronto Maple Leafs organization.
Overall, it is not an ideal situation, although the Maple Leafs organization is putting all of its support behind Woll right now.
Meanwhile, some have been wondering what the contingency plan is now that Woll is going to be out for the foreseeable future.
Well, according to Chris Johnston, Anthony stolarz will become the defactor number one starter, while Dennis Hildeby will be the backup goalie until further notice.
GM Brad Treliving confirmed Woll will rejoin the team but added, «How long that is remains to be seen.» Even when he does return, there could be a ramp-up period before he's ready for game action. In the meantime, the Leafs will proceed with
Anthony Stolarz as the number one, with Dennis Hildeby in the backup role.
Ultimately, this is for the best. Stolarz faced a similar situation with Woll at the beginning of last season, so it makes sense that head coach Craig Berube would go with the same solution.
As for Dennis Hildeby, fans are eager to see his growth as a goaltender, and we hope to see a huge improvement in his play, especially at the NHL level.
For now, our thoughts remain with Joseph Woll, who is going through a lot right now.
We hope that he is able to come back feeling refreshed.
