In 2028, the World Cup of Hockey is set to return, and after the success of the 4 Nations Face-Off, fans are excited to see some phenomenal best-on-best hockey.
Last season, the NHL put the entire professional sports world on notice with the 4 Nations Face-Off, which was the perfect alternative to the All-Star Game.
This was all a precursor to the NHL's return to the Olympics, which is set to take place this February. It is going to be a ton of fun, and players will be amped up to play for their countries.
To make things that much more interesting, the World Cup of Hockey is set to officially make its return in 2028, and as it stands, the countries involved are still up for grabs.
Which teams will be featured in the World Cup of Hockey
On Bleacher Report, Frank Seravalli came through with some predictions about which countries would be taking part in the special event.
He noted that Team Canada, Team USA, Team Sweden, and Team Finland are all locked in. Furthermore, he believes Czechia and Switzerland will immediately get placements in the tournament.
As far as bubble teams are concerned, Seravalli made the argument that Russia, Slovakia, and Germany are on the cusp.
As for countries that could be included but probably won't be, you have Latvia, Denmark, Norway, France, and perhaps even Italy.
Overall, it is going to be an extremely fun tournament, and this is something that fans should start gearing up for, even if it is over two years from now.
Hopefully, Russia is able to participate. Of course, it will all depend on the geopolitical situation. Either way, fans want to see the best players participate.
After the 4 Nations Face-Off, it is clear that this could be one of the greatest tournaments of all time.
