Easton Cowan injured in bloody collision after breaking Doug Gilmour's record
Coming into last night's game against the
Oshawa Generals, Cowan had been on a 55-game point streak.
Unofficially, Cowan was tied for the longest point streak in OHL history with Doug Gilmour.
Regardless, Cowan ended up scoring a goal last night, which helped him bring the unofficial record to 56 games.
Easton Cowan breaks Doug Gilmour's record
Cowan scored on a nice one-timer that led to a perfectly placed shot. Unfortunately, the Knights ended up losing the game by a score of 5-3.
On top of the loss, Cowan ended up having to be removed from the game after a huge collision with Generals player Zack Sandhu.
Cowan taken out of the game
In fact, this was such a massive hit that there was reportedly blood on the ice, although it is unclear from who.
Both players were down for quite some time and eventually had to leave the ice and the game entirely.
We wish both Cowan and Sandhu a quick recovery going forward.
For now, it seems like they left the game out of an abundance of caution, which is good to see in junior hockey.
As for the record, there is no denying that Cowan has superstar potential, and the Maple Leafs are very lucky to have him in their system.
