The Toronto Maple Leafs' power play has been absolutely abysmal lately. However, with the trade deadline approaching, the team can definitely salvage something.
With the playoffs fast approaching, plenty of solutions have been thrown around, although perhaps a trade is the key to truly fixing what appears to be an untenable situation.
On The Leafs Nation After Dark, an interesting suggestion was made regarding New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider.
Kreider has been thrown around in trade rumors as of late and the Toronto Maple Leafs have been named as a potential suitor.
In the clip below, it was explained that Kreider would be the perfect player to put on the Leafs' power play and that his experience would completely transform the team's philosophy.
As it stands, Kreider is in the fifth year of a seven-year deal worth $6.5 million per season.
Overall, this isn't a terrible contract by any means, however, it would require the Maple Leafs to give up a significant amount of assets in a potential deal.
Not to mention, Kreider has 13 goals in 34 games this season which is a sign that the forward is slowing down.
If you trade for
Chris Kreider, you will not be getting a 50-goal season out of him, anytime soon.
Only time will tell what general manager Brad Treliving does once the trade deadline rolls around in a month and a half's time.
