Auston Matthews on the Toronto Maple Leafs power play
The final score was 3-0 and the Leafs showed once again that despite their offensive weapons, they've forgotten how to score.
Last night, the Leafs went 0-3 on the power play and only managed two shots, with the Canucks getting two shots while down a man.
After the game, Auston Matthews spoke to the media where he gave his take on how the Maple Leafs power play can improve going forward.
"We just have to get more pucks to the net. A lot of movement, kind of a lot of nothing going on, I guess. I just think we can do a better job of simplifying it."
It is a very obvious solution yet the Maple Leafs just aren't executing. This has been a problem since the beginning of the season and some are wondering if it is the fault of Craig Berube's system.
Despite these offensive struggles, the Maple Leafs remain one of the best teams in
the Atlantic Division.
If they can get the forward group clicking, then this team will be absolutely unstoppable.
Until then, however, the Leafs will be a team that you have to wonder about every single night, and that is not what the fans want after decades of losing.
Tuesday night against Dallas will be a nice test of whether or not this team can bounce back.
