Auston Matthews just got a huge injury update that will excite Maple Leafs fans
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews has been dealing with an upper-body injury that has kept him out of the last seven games.
Overall, this injury has proven to be very confusing for Maple Leafs fans as the team has yet to disclose what is wrong with him.
Originally, Matthews was supposed to just be day-to-day, however, he has actually been out for about three weeks now.
It was one of those updates that really makes you think something deeper and more serious is going on.
However, the team was adamant that Matthews is just taking every precaution and getting the best medical care humanly possible.
Today, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube gave an update on his captain, and it was actually a positive one.
Craig Berube on Auston Matthews
"Everything went well. He's actually improving and in a really good spot right now going forward so we are very happy with that."
At this stage, the Maple Leafs do not have to rush Matthews back. They have won six of their last seven and are looking pretty good.
However, it is always better to have your captain out on the ice.
His injury was reportedly keeping him from being the accomplished goal scorer we know him to be. With that being the case, a healthy Matthews could be a problem for opposing teams.
Hopefully, we will see the captain back in action as of next week, as the Leafs look to continue their momentum with Christmas on the horizon.
