Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has a lot to think about these days, and it appears as though his trade plans are the worst-kept secret.

At a record of 5-5-1 to start the season, it is clear to everyone watching right now that the Toronto Maple Leafs are not good enough.
General manager Brad Treliving clearly knew this already, as he was desperately trying to make a big trade during the offseason, but couldn't make it work.

Toronto Maple Leafs still want a center

According to David Pagnotta, it would appear as though the Maple Leafs are in the market to make some moves and are planning on being aggressive from here on out.
They want to do away with the bottom six guys, and they are trying to find a center for their top six. It's ambitious, but they believe they can make it happen.
Expect to hear Toronto a little bit more; they're looking at moving out one of their 95 bottom 6 guys; Toronto's gonna start to elevate their search for a top 6 guy; wouldn't shock me if it ends up being a center
The Maple Leafs will have to give up more than just a Calle Jarnkrok to get their wish of a top-six center. It is going to take some prospects and draft picks as well.
There aren't a ton of guys out there on the market, and teams are going to make it extremely difficult for the Leafs to get anything done without paying a fortune.
This is why Brad Treliving is paid the big bucks. He must navigate this market and give the Leafs something to be happy about, no matter what.
It is going to be fascinating to see how the Leafs look in the new year, and if it will be a huge departure from what they look like now.
