Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand has taken a leave of absence, and now, we know it's because he is coaching a youth hockey team in Nova Scotia.
Brad Marchand is one of the best and most impactful players in the league. As it turns out, he also has a complete heart of gold.
Initially, it was claimed that he had a death in his family and was looking to take some time off to deal with the situation. However, he is actually helping out a friend.
Brad Marchand helps his friend JP MacCallum
His longtime friend JP MacCallum suffered a terrible tragedy recently as his daughter passed away. MacCallum is the coach of the U18 March & Mill Co Hunters of Nova Scotia U18 Major Hockey League.
While MacCallum takes some time away from the game, Marchand is going to be the coach of the team.
This gesture reflects the true spirit of the hockey community in Nova Scotia, one built on compassion, loyalty, and connection that extends far beyond the rink. Our thoughts are with JP, his loved ones, and the entire Hunters organization.
This is an amazing thing to do, and you can't help but appreciate the Panthers organization for letting Marchand do this.
Not to mention, the players will now get a phenomenal experience to play for one of the best players in the entire NHL.
Our heart goes out to the MacCallum family during this very difficult time. We hope everyone is getting the support they need from the community.
We also commend Marchand for his generosity during such a difficult time.
