Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson has been trade bait for months at this point, and still, the man remains on the roster, despite a lack of opportunity.

Nick Robertson is a player who has been desperately trying to get more opportunities with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
With William Nylander out of the lineup against the Sabres on Saturday, Robertson got to play on the first line, and he ended up getting himself a goal.
He has since been demoted back down to the fourth line, and it acts as a stark reminder that there are very few opportunities for Robertson to get the playing time he is looking for.
The trade rumors around Robertson have been non-stop for years, but still, it persists. With that in mind, many wonder if the forward will still be on the team by next month.

Darren Dreger speaks on the Nick Robertson situation

According to Darren Dreger, Leafs fans should not get too ahead of themselves when it comes to the idea of Robertson being dealt.
Dreger notes that at the end of the day, the Leafs would have traded him by now if they truly didn't want him. The truth is, they do like Robertson, and they want other teams to offer a fair deal.
This is going to be an interesting situation to watch play out over the coming weeks and months, especially if Robertson pressures the organization to make a trade.
At the end of the day, Robertson could impose his will here, especially if head coach Craig Berube continues to keep him in the bottom six.
With Scott Laughton on the way and Easton Cowan emerging as a top-six guy, Robertson's spot on the team may be in serious jeopardy.
Tonight, Robertson should probably just focus on scoring, as the Maple Leafs look to knock off the Columbus Blue Jackets.
