Auston Matthews Responds to Fan Who Threw His Jersey on the Ice in Disgust

Auston Matthews and the rest of his teammates were absolutely awful against the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night in a 6-1 loss that has many feeling like the season is over.

If you were to ask fans right now, they would tell you that this team needs to be blown up immediately. There is a whole lot of anger, and it is easy to see why.

In fact, during last night's loss, fans began to file out of the arena early while booing. Furthermore, one fan even threw a Matthews jersey onto the ice in disgust.

After the game, Matthews was asked about the reactions from the fans and whether or not he felt as though it was disrespectful.

Interestingly enough, the captain completely understood. He noted that the team was pretty bad last night and that fans had no reason to stay or be even remotely happy.

Having said all of that, these words are not going to take back the horrible performance the Maple Leafs laid out last night.

Auston Matthews has not scored a single goal in this series and that is a massive problem. At some point, something has got to give here.

The Maple Leafs will play in Florida on Friday night in Game 6 and if they lose, that is it, the season is over and some changes will have to be made.

Simply put, it really does feel as though someone like Mitch Marner needs to go, once and for all. Otherwise, this team will never succeed.
