Brandon Carlo Gives Unacceptable Response When Pressed About Anthony Stolarz

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Brandon Carlo has been the subject of deep criticism following comments from Anthony Stolarz, who has every right to his anger.
Brandon Carlo is being put under the microscope for the worst of reasons today after a bad moment involving his goaltender, Anthony Stolarz.
After getting barreled into by Seattle Kraken forward Jaden Schwartz, Carlo sat idly by while Stolarz went absolutely ballistic.
Standing up for your goaltender is the bare minimum, and Carlo couldn't even do that. Now, some want him benched, while others think a trade is necessary.

After the game, Carlo was asked why he didn't defend Stolarz, and quite frankly, his response was beyond disappointing.
He noted that he didn't do anything because he didn't want to end up getting a penalty. It's a lame excuse and one that head coach Craig Berube must address.
As I saw the referee call the penalty, you don't want to do too much to retaliate. But yeah, there's a certain extent once you see Stollie get up and be angry too, you want to try and give him a shot. But overall, you want to go on the power play as well. So it's a weird area to be in. But overall, I think the power play is a useful thing in that situation.
We have gotten to a point where the Maple Leafs aren't even protecting their goalie. The DNA of this team was supposed to change but instead, it remains the same.
At 3-2-1, it is clear that the Maple Leafs are not living up to their potential. Their best players are playing soft, and that's just a bad look all around.
If you are a Maple Leafs fan, you cannot be impressed with how this team has played to start the season.
Craig Berube should feel the same way, and with their next game on Tuesday, some serious changes should be made...and fast.
