This past week, the Toronto Maple Leafs let go of President Brendan Shanahan, and now, there is a feeling that the Toronto Blue Jays could also make a big change.

When Brendan Shanahan was let go as President of the Toronto Maple Leafs, it showed that MLSE was eager to make big changes.
While MLSE doesn't own the Toronto Blue Jays, their controlling entity, Rogers, does own the MLB juggernaut.
As a result, there has been some speculation that the Blue Jays will also look to make big changes to their ownership.

Will the Toronto Blue Jays fire Mark Shapiro?

Toronto Sun columnist Steve Simmons is especially wary of what could happen next to the Blue Jays organization.
In a new column, the reporter contemplated how Rogers might look to MLSE as an example of how to run their organization.
Mark Shapiro, whose Blue Jays have won five playoff games in 10 seasons on the job, remains president of the baseball club. The five playoff wins, for the record, came from a team Shapiro inherited in 2016, not from one he built himself.

Edward Rogers, soon to be major domo of all professional sports across Toronto, had to sign off on the expiry of Shanahan's contract and the determination not to offer him a new deal.
In fact, Simmons is under the assumption that Blue Jays CEO Mark Shapiro is as good as gone next season.
Shapiro's contract is apparently up with the Blue Jays right now. It is expected to expire at the end of this season. How he maintains his position in the wake of the Shanahan dismissal is curious at best.

Needless to say, the Shanahan firing is having major implications in various other sports.
It just goes to show that when it comes to professional sports, winning is always everything.
