Toronto Maple Leafs forward Calle Jarnkrok has been wrapped up in a plethora of trade rumors, and his recent comments showcase where his head is at.
Last season was a difficult one for
Calle Jarnkrok, as it started with a sports hernia that kept him out of the lineup for months.
When he came back, he finished off the season with seven points in 19 games. Unfortunately, the playoffs were a disaster as he only had one point in 12 games.
Now, the forward is fighting for a roster spot, and with the regular season on the horizon, there is a real chance that Jarnkrok is either waived or bought out entirely.
Calle Jarnkrok addresses the trade rumors
In a new interview with
Luke Fox of Sportsnet, Jarnkrok spoke about the trade rumors and how he is feeling during this time of uncertainty.
The forward had a powerful message, noting that he just wants to have fun and that he enjoys the competition aspect.
I'm here just trying to do my best. Have some fun out there. You never know when it's gonna end. I'm not getting any younger. I mean, competition is always good. It's good for the team. Like I said, I'm having fun right now. I don't know what's going to happen. Just have to wait and see.
This is a good mentality to have, but with
Easton Cowan having a blistering training camp, it seems like Jarnkrok is on the verge of being phased out.
It is truly unfortunate, but the NHL is a very cruel place, and sometimes, guys just aren't needed anymore.
Over the coming weeks, we will begin to get a much better picture of what is next for the Maple Leafs winger.
