Connor McDavid isn't committing to his future with the Edmonton Oilers, and this has some Toronto Maple Leafs fans feeling like a signing could be on the horizon.
After losing in the Stanley Cup Finals for the second-straight season, Connor McDavid has a lot to think about as it pertains to the Edmonton Oilers.
Next year, the forward can become a free agent, and there are a ton of teams out there that would love to acquire him for a heavy price.
In fact, there is a belief that the forward could fetch upwards of $18 million per season on his next contract, which would be an earth-shattering figure for the NHL.

On Thursday, McDavid sent shockwaves throughout the NHL as his comments suggested that his time in Edmonton is not a guarantee.
It's only been a few days since the season ended. You know, I'll take some time to regroup, talk to my agent a little bit, my family and all that, and make some decisions whenever that time comes - but there's no rush on anything like that.
Of course, Toronto Maple Leafs fans found themselves twisting in knots over these comments, given the fact that Mitch Marner is about to head out.
There has been this hope that general manager Brad Treliving would pursue McDavid during the Summer of 2026.
McDavid is the hometown kid, and after today, there are some fans who seem to have deluded themselves into the idea that McDavid is on his way home.
Leafs fans should probably simmer down a bit and temper their expectations. The very notion of getting McDavid is absurd right now.
However, if it makes you sleep better at night, then by all means, convince yourself of the impossible.
