Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson has been struggling but his goal against the Tampa Bay Lightning certainly has the Leafs breathing a sigh of relief.
However, on Saturday night against the Lightning, Robertson got the monkey off of his back with a beautiful snipe that went over the shoulder of Andrei Vasilevskiy.
Firstly, Matthews explained that this goal from Robertson could open the floodgates for more.
It's not easy when you're snakebitten. You get opportunities, and the puck just doesn't seem to fall. But I know that one felt really good for him, and all the boys are extremely, you know, pumped for him on that. So I think there's more to come for him, absolutely.
Berube on the other hand, was complimentary of Robertson's work ethic, noting that the forward has been doing all of the right things.
He's working hard. No problem with the work ethic. We talked today about getting on the inside more and getting around the net to score some greasy goals. But it was great to see him get one for sure.
It is a bit early to tell whether or not Robertson has bought himself some time in Toronto, however, the goal certainly has not hurt.
Regardless, he still has work to do as two points in 20 games is not ideal for a player of his caliber.
