17-year-old hockey star tragically dies during charity game
According to News 12 Long Island, Connor Kasin was playing Saturday night at the Town of Oyster Bay Skating Center when he collapsed during an intermission.
Spectators at the arena rushed to help Kasin, and CPR was administered before the ambulance showed up.
Tragically, Kasin would not survive, and his death was announced in a letter from the Massapequa High School, which was then passed on to the students.
It is heartbreaking to report that Connor did not survive. His passing is devastating to the Massapequa community, and we offer our deepest condolences to Connor's family and friends.
RIP Connor Kasin
In the same letter, it was explained that everyone tried everything they could to save the young man.
It is with saddened hearts that we inform you of the passing of a 12th grade student. He experienced a sudden medical event during a varsity ice hockey game last night and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. It is heartbreaking to report that he did not survive.
Kasin described himself in NCSA College Recruiting profile, which can be read down below.
My name is Connor Kasin and I have been playing Ice Hockey since the age of four. I am an active, social, and encouraging teammate both on and off of the ice. I like to see my self as an active player in the way that I play both with and without the puck.
Some things that would make me a good team candidate are my academic ability, leadership qualities, athletic performance, and my character. I can be seen as an overall defensive defenseman when it comes to my style of play. My goals are to get into a great college that provides me with both excellent coaching and education.
Our hearts and condolences go out to the Kasin family during this incredibly difficult time.
We hope everyone involved is able to get the comfort and help they need and deserve.
