Tonight, the Maple Leafs are taking on
the Buffalo Sabres, however, some uncomfortable questions must be taken into consideration as it pertains to captain
Auston Matthews.
Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews continues to go through it
This morning, Sportsnet reporter Luke Fox revealed that Matthews and
Joseph Woll skipped out on the morning skate.
However, it was made clear that both the captain and the goaltender would be available to suit up tonight.
Subsequently, fans voiced some concerns, especially since Matthews dealt with a lingering injury earlier in the season.
While speaking to reporters, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube confirmed as such noting that the team is trying to manage the injury as best as possible.
"It's tough. He's fighting through it, and he's doing a pretty good job out there on the ice. He's producing and playing hard and working, and we just gotta manage it. It'll get better. We just gotta manage it. And that's why he's off the ice today."
One has to wonder what is really going on with Auston Matthews, and whether or not he should even be allowed to play at the
4 Nations Face-Off.
This seems like an injury they may just have to shut him down for, especially since the team was winning games without him in the lineup.
Hopefully, they can figure something out before Matthews injures himself worse than he already is.
