Craig Berube is Causing Major Problems for the Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube knows what he likes out of a hockey team, although this could be a big issue for the front office.
Craig Berube had a successful campaign with the
Toronto Maple Leafs as he got them to win the Atlantic Division, all while forcing the defending champions to seven games.
Now, he gets to help general manager Brad Treliving make personnel decisions. However, he is already causing some issues.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, Berube wants the team to be tougher and grittier next season. He wants the makeup of the team's DNA to completely change.
While Treliving agrees in principle, this is all easier said than done. There aren't a ton of UFAs and trade targets out there who have that "grittier" nose for the game.
I think for the most part, the Leafs adhered to and embraced that type of playing philosophy. But it's believed he wants a different style - one that's tougher and more direct - and that's where things could shift moving forward.
Brad Marchand and
Sam Bennett are two guys who could certainly fit that bill. However, a big issue right now is that Bennett and Marchand will likely run it back in Florida, especially if they win a Cup.
Meanwhile, the Leafs have to contend with being a team that has a harsher media market. This is a whole discourse now, and could keep players away.
Mitch Marner and
John Tavares are also likely to be on their way out, which is a whole other issue entirely for this team.
If you are a Leafs fan, there is no denying that this is a tough situation. Only time will tell if Craig Berube enjoys the roster he gets dealt.
