Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube watched his team play their worst game of the season when it mattered the most, and no, he's not happy.
Last night in Game 7 against the Florida Panthers, the
Toronto Maple Leafs played arguably their worst game of the entire NHL season.
Overall, the Leafs were just brutal to watch. They had absolutely no passion, and it was evident from the puck drop.
Craig Berube roasts the Toronto Maple Leafs
After the game, Berube was brutally honest about the Toronto Maple Leafs' issues in this game, and he even acknowledged that the lack of desire to win killed them.
The head coach explained how the Panthers were more desperate and wanted the game more. By now, the Leafs should have more passion than that.
"They were the better team. They were the more desperate team. They were the more aggressive team. That's what I take out of the game. You win a Game 6, that's great. You come home. You have to have a level of desperation, determination. I didn't feel we had it."
Ultimately, this will go down as one of the worst and most disappointing games in the history of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Whatever flak the Leafs get from this game, it is going to be deserved. However, we're sure there will be plenty of excuses coming down the pipeline.
Hopefully, the team can figure this out in the summer and make sure they come back with a grittier team next time out.
Otherwise, fans will continue to be subjected to some of the most gut-wrenching and heartbreaking stuff possible.
