However, the relationship between an established player and a new head coach can always be a bit turbulent, especially as the two get to know each other.
William Nylander on Craig Berube
During an episode of Leafs Morning Take, Jordan Schmaltz recounted a conversation he had with William Nylander earlier this season and it contained some interesting comments about the head coach.
As Schmaltz explains, Nylander absolutely loves Berube and firmly believes that the system in place is making the team a whole lot tougher.
"He was just saying how much he loves Chief and just the system and the way they just operate, I think even just as a mentality when you're playing with Chief, somehow a coach makes you tougher. And I think that's what Chief does to a lot of his teams, and you can see it with the Leafs."
It is sometimes rare to see a coach get praised by his players like this, so we love to hear that Nylander, a pivotal player on the team, is a fan of the head coach.
At times, Berube has been criticized for his system that has sometimes stifled the team's ability to generate offense. That doesn't seem to be a problem these days.
Only time will tell who ends up winning it all and if Craig Berube's hiring will be fully justified.
