Former Toronto Maple Leafs Forward Signs New Professional Contract After Rough Season

Back in 2015, the Toronto Maple Leafs drafted forward Dmytro Timashov in the fifth round, a player who has spent the last few years bouncing around teams in Europe.
Dmytro Timashov got to play 45 games in the NHL, 39 of which were with the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2019-2020 season. He had four goals and five assists, but wasn't able to manage much else.
After a couple of years in the AHL, Timashov decided to go overseas to be closer to his home country of Ukraine. He played in the Swedish league and even the Swiss league.
Last season was tough for Timashov as he played 22 games with Sochi of the KHL, before going to Geneve Servette of the Swiss-A league.
This summer, the forward's career had been in limbo as he did not have a single contract waiting for him. His professional hopes were on the ropes.

However, Hockey Sverige is now reporting that Timashov has found a new home for the upcoming season.
He is going to the KHL, where he will play for Admiral Vladivostok. This is going to be a great opportunity, and Timashov appears excited.
I want to play in the KHL to get closer to my family who live there. Then it felt good when I talked to the club GM and coach. It will be fun to play in the KHL again and, as I said, be close to my Russian family who I have barely seen since I moved to Sweden and was also in the USA.
Overall, the Toronto Maple Leafs did what they could with Timashov, and it remains clear that he did not have what it takes for the NHL.
That said, it is good to see him kicking around in the professional hockey world and getting consistent contracts.
We wish Timashov the best of luck going forward, and we hope this is one of the best seasons of his career.
