Insider Pours Cold Water On Mitch Marner's Free Agency Plans

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is looking to explore free agency, and there are numerous teams who would be willing to sign him for ridiculous money.
While this is hard to fathom, there are teams desperate enough, with enough cap space, to make a deal like this happen.
Mitch Marner and the Carolina Hurricanes
One team that has been talked about quite a bit is the Carolina Hurricanes, who were unable to trade for Marner at the trade deadline this past season.
In fact, it was reported that Marner denied waiving his no-trade clause. He had no interest in going to Carolina mid-season. However, some feel that in the summer, it might make more sense for him to do so.
Well, earlier today, Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff Live completely poured cold water all over this notion. He was quick to say that Mitch Marner and the Hurricanes are an unlikely couple.
Instead, most insiders have maintained that Mitch Marner is going to sign with a team like the Las Vegas Golden Knights or the Los Angeles Kings.
Some even believe he could go to the Anaheim Ducks, who have a ton of money to spend and don't have massive expectations right now.
Whatever the case may be, the consensus is that Mitch is heading to the Western Conference, where he can get as far away from Toronto as humanly possible.
Hopefully, the Maple Leafs and Marner can patch up their relationship. Not with the goal of signing a deal, but with the goal of making sure everyone is on good terms before moving on for good.
