Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares was elbowed by Artem Zub of the Ottawa Senators in overtime on Saturday night and the fans are very upset.
Tonight, the
Toronto Maple Leafs lost by a score of 4-3 in overtime to the Ottawa Senators who were looking to keep the series alive after going down 3-0.
Now, the series is headed back to Toronto on Tuesday for Game 5 and the Leafs will have yet another opportunity to finish out the series.
Having said that, a lot of fans are livid right now at Senators player Artem Zub who delivered a pretty questionable hit on John Tavares during overtime.
John Tavares leaves overtime and comes back
Zub got his elbow up and gave Tavares quite the shot, In fact, Tavares had to go back to the locker room. This happened during a big four-minute power play that the Leafs could not capitalize on.
Had Johnny T been on the ice, there is a realistic chance they could have scored and finished off the series once and for all.
Eventually, Tavares did come back to the bench, but by then, it was too late as the Senators finished off the game before the first overtime period could end.
This loss is going to sting for the Maple Leafs especially since they have been awful in potential series clinching games over the years.
Hopefully, the team is able to get it together in time for Tuesday. They really need something to be excited by and a win would do that.
If the Senators win and send the series back to Ottawa for Game 6, then we are looking at a real problem for the Maple Leafs, who will be classified as chokers.
Ultimately, this is going to be an interesting conclusion to the series, no matter what. Hopefully, the fans don't get too antsy about all of this.
