The Toronto Maple Leafs are dealing with a few injuries right now and it has forced them to call up a young Marlies forward who some fans simply don't know.
Jacob Quillan is a young Toronto Maple Leafs prospect who was an undrafted free agent coming out of Quinnipiac University.
He played seven games with the Toronto Marlies last season but has played 35 games with the team during the 2024-25 campaign.
In fact, he has six goals and nine assists, making him one of the more promising young guns on the roster.
Jacob Quillan gets first opportunity with the Maple Leafs
Today, Quillan was given the biggest opportunity of his life as he was called up by the Maple Leafs ahead of their game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Funny enough, Quillan is not the first player you would expect to see get the call from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Instead, fans would have expected the likes of
Alex Steeves or maybe even Alex Nylander. As a result, some fans are asking who the young man even is.
However, the team has opted for the 22-year-old who will likely be a healthy scratch for at least a couple of games.
That said, if there are any other injuries, he will certainly find his way into the lineup and that would definitely be a special moment.
Hopefully, Quillan will make the most of his opportunity and show the fans that he is someone to pay attention to for years to come.
