Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi was asked about the team winning the Atlantic Division and it ultimately led to a very bizarre and flippant answer.
The two teams are playing against each other tonight and if the Maple Leafs can win in regulation, they will officially take the division lead.
Max Domi gives his thoughts on the Atlantic Division
Ahead of this massive matchup, players on the Toronto Maple Leafs are being asked about the Atlantic Division, and that includes none other than
Max Domi.
Interestingly enough, the Maple Leafs winger doesn't care about the Atlantic Division and as he explained, neither do his teammates. Instead, they are just trying to win games.
"That sh*t doesn't matter to us. We're just trying to beat every team we're playing against."
Domi and the Leafs should absolutely care about the Atlantic Division as it will ultimately determine what kind of playoff matchup they get stuck with.
Toronto could end up playing the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round which isn't exactly a favorable matchup, all things considered.
However, Max Domi's comments do tell us that the Leafs are full of confidence right now which is definitely something to be happy about.
Whatever the case may be, the Leafs do need some positivity here and a win against the Florida Panthers on Thursday could kickstart all of that.
They won against the Utah Hockey Club on Monday and that was a great start coming off of a three-game losing streak. The playoffs are around the corner and building momentum is going to be important.
