Anthony Stolarz had a bad night on Saturday as the Seattle Kraken defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs by a score of 4-3 in overtime.
He made numerous comments after the game, and he even had some words about the game-winning goal, which he put on William Nylander.
Anthony Stolarz is fed up with William Nylander
While Stolarz did not mention Nylander by name, he did make it a point to say that the guys on the team have been around long enough to know this effort is not good enough.
The breakaway goal was the direct result of William Nylander's laziness, and the response from Stolarz was telling.
I mean, a lot of guys have been here for a while. Overtime, you can't let someone beat you up the ice there & gets a clear-cut breakaway. A minute left, you want to be on the ice in that situation you gotta work hard ... It cost us a point
At this stage, it is hard to imagine what the Maple Leafs are going to do from here, as some big changes have to be made.
Right now, the team does not have the right players on the ice to showcase grit, toughness, and general tenacity.
If your response to your goaltender being ran over is to just stand there, there is something wrong, and someone has to speak up.
The fact that it was the goaltender who did so, and not the actual captain, is a massive problem that needs to be addressed.
