Maple Leafs make shocking goaltending decision against the Anaheim Ducks
The Toronto Maple Leafs are going up against the Anaheim Ducks tonight and they have made their official decision between Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll.
Anthony Stolarz was a monster on Tuesday night against the New Jersey Devils, as he stopped 37 out of 38 shots in a huge win for the Maple Leafs.
Tonight, the Maple Leafs are playing the Anaheim Ducks, and given the 50-50 split the Leafs have gone with this season, the assumption was that Joseph Woll would get the start.
However, it seems as though head coach Craig Berube would rather go with the hot hand, and it is very hard to blame him.
Anthony Stolarz makes it two in a row
According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, Anthony Stolarz will be the one getting the start tonight, which is great to see.
Anthony Stolarz occupies starter's net at morning skate. Projects to get the nod against the Ducks, a former team.
While Woll has also been playing great hockey, you can't help but feel like Stolarz deserved this second-straight start.
He has been an absolute beast for the Maple Leafs so far this season, and with a 9-5-2 record, the Maple Leafs feel as though they can safely trust him between the pipes.
Moreover, the Ducks are a struggling team which means the Leafs should be able to win, or at least play better than they did on Tuesday night.
The Leafs come into this game with a record of 17-9-2.
