Milan Lucic was not in the NHL last season, but now that he is cleared to play, he is looking to make a comeback, and his first stop is a PTO out West.
The last time NHL fans saw
Milan Lucic play NHL hockey was during the 2023-24 season, when he returned to the Boston Bruins.
He only played four games that year, and with off-the-ice issues mounting, Lucic had to put a stop to his career. He was unable to play, and following an investigation, the NHL reinstated him.
Since that time, Lucic has remained without a team, and it has been up in the air as to whether or not he would ever return to the NHL.
However, at 37 years old, he has continued to look for opportunities, and it appears as though he has finally found one with a team in need of some grit.
Milan Lucic to the St. Louis Blues
That team would be the St. Louis Blues, who are coming off a season in which they almost made it to the second round of the playoffs, despite all odds.
According to reports, Lucic has signed a PTO with the team, which means he is not guaranteed a spot on the team. Instead, he will have to work for it.
This is not going to be easy for Lucic, especially since his last few seasons in the NHL have been unproductive compared to where he was in the past.
In his last full season with the Calgary Flames, he only managed 19 points. He has consistently dropped off in terms of production, and that will be an issue for St. Louis.
Luckily, a PTO is the perfect way for the Blues to evaluate if Lucic truly is ready to play for this team going forward, or if he will have to be cut in training camp.
Only time will tell whether or not Lucic will be in the NHL this year, or if he will be looking to continue his career abroad.
