Mitch Marner scores beautiful overtime winner to lift Maple Leafs over the Oilers
Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Mitch Marner had himself a massive goal tonight that ultimately helped the Leafs defeat the Edmonton Oilers.
Overall, this was a game in which no team ever had a two-goal lead. For much of the game, both of these teams went back and forth.
At one stage, the game was tied 3-3 and it ended up going to overtime. When you consider the firepower on the Maple Leafs and the Oilers, you can see how the overtime would be a lot of fun.
It was all very fast-paced but in the end, it was the Leafs who were able to get the win. It was all because of a two-on-rush between Mitch Marner and
John Tavares.
As you can see below, Oilers goaltender
Stuart Skinner anticipated a pass across the crease from Marner. However, he takes the shot instead.
This shot decision was a very good one as it ended up going past Marner and led to just a beautiful goal that had the Maple Leafs fans erupting in joy.
Mitch Marner gives the Maple Leafs the win
For the Maple Leafs, this was a huge win as they have now won five of their last six. Furthermore, they now have a record of 11-6-2.
At this stage, it would appear as though the Maple Leafs are figuring out how to play hockey under the new head coach, Craig Berube.
Only time will tell what is next for this Leafs squad.
