Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is likely to pursue free agency, and one of the teams at the top of his list has already bowed out.
Mitch Marner is going to be the most sought-after free agent this summer, and there are reports that he could fetch up to $14 million.
There are some desperate teams out there, and Marner could instantly become a franchise cornerstone for a team that wants to go from being a bottom-feeder to a perennial playoff contender.
Is Mitch Marner going to free agency?
However, according to Scott Powers of The Athletic, the Blackhawks aren't too convinced about their free agency plans.
In fact, it would appear as though Chicago is not interested in signing Marner. Instead, they will be looking elsewhere.
«From every indication I have the Blackhawks aren't going to go after Mitch Marner. They've already made their mind up»
This news will be disappointing for Blackhawks fans. However, for Marner, it isn't necessarily a bad thing.
The forward is also looking at the Los Angeles Kings, the Utah Mammoth, the Las Vegas Golden Knights, and even the Anaheim Ducks.
While some Leafs fans are holding out hope that Mitch Marner will remain with the franchise, it is looking increasingly likely that he is gone by the first week of July.
