Calgary Flames center Nazem Kadri is being discussed in potential trade talks, and the Toronto Maple Leafs have emerged as the team with the most interest.
A report from yesterday even suggested that the Toronto Maple Leafs were thinking of making some type of deal with
the Calgary Flames, albeit the players involved were unknown.
Nazem Kadri and the Toronto Maple Leafs
With all of this speculation going around, a report has come out today that is probably going to upset some of the Leafs fans out there.
According to Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun, Kadri is interested in reuniting with the Leafs someday, but he is not pushing for a trade right now.
An NHL source said on Wednesday, however, that Kadri would not let his no-move clause stand in the way of agreeing to a trade to Toronto. At the same time, it was stressed to us that Kadri enjoys playing in Calgary and is not looking to be moved.
Interestingly enough, Kadri seemingly would be willing to waive his no-trade clause if he were brought back into the fold in Toronto.
Regardless, a Kadri trade at this juncture seems highly unlikely. If you are a Maple Leafs fan, you're just going to have to live without the team's former center for a few years longer.
Not to mention, Kadri is about to turn 35 years old and could be hitting a decline soon. The Leafs are a team that needs to get younger, and Kadri simply doesn't fit that mould.
Only time will tell what Brad Treliving has planned for the rest of the summer as this Leafs team looks to continue to get better.
