With free agency a couple of days old, the Toronto Maple Leafs have barely made any big moves, and there are some fears that Brad Treliving is completely stuck.
Going into free agency, everyone knew it was going to be an uphill battle for the Toronto Maple Leafs and their general manager, Brad Treliving.
Whenever you lose a franchise player like
Mitch Marner, you are going to have to find a replacement, and that is not always an easy thing to do.
Toronto Maple Leafs struggling in free agency
According to Chris Johnston of TSN, the chances of the Maple Leafs making said splash are pretty low right now. Instead, fans are probably going to have to wait for later this month, or perhaps even August, before the team makes a move.
It might be late July and into August until [the Maple Leafs] finally complete the picture here; Marchand was their #1 target; make no mistake, this is not the Leafs roster as it will be comprised in training camp
Overall, Brad Treliving is taking his time right now, and you have to appreciate his patience throughout this process. You don't build contenders overnight, and the GM understands this.
Only time will tell whether or not the Toronto Maple Leafs can improve the team from where they are now. Once Marner left, it became a rat race for assets.
Having said that, we appreciate everything Treliving has been able to accomplish as of late, and we hope to see more moves very soon.
In the meantime, Leafs Nation will just have to trust the process.
