With the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to fix some of their problems at center, it appears as though general manager Brad Treliving is taking a look at Nazem Kadri.
When Maple Leafs fans think of their favorite players of the last decade, you will notice that many of them immediately go to
Nazem Kadri.
Overall, the forward was incredible in this city, and you could tell he never wanted to leave. However, when Kyle Dubas traded him some years ago, the fans were absolutely heartbroken.
Now, Kadri is playing in Calgary, where he is in the middle of a seven-year contract worth $7 million per season. With 35 goals last season, he is certainly living up to the deal.
Is Nazem Kadri coming back to the Toronto Maple Leafs?
General manager Brad Treliving was thinking of signing
Andrew Mangiapane, a player he had in Calgary. While this did not work out, Hornby says there is a belief that Treliving wants to explore trade options with the Calgary Flames. That tells us Kadri is on the table.
There was believed to be some Toronto interest in Andrew Mangiapane, likely stemming from former Flames and current Leafs GM Brad Treliving.
However, 'he may not be done exploring trade options with his old team' - especially after last year's pursuit of
Chris Tanev.
Of course, the Leafs could also be looking to trade for
Rasmus Andersson, a defenseman who some feel could be on the move very soon.
Either way, it is good news that the Toronto Maple Leafs are trying to get creative and want to make something happen.
Bringing back Nazem Kadri would energize the Maple Leafs fanbase in a big way, and we're sure guys like
Auston Matthews would love it.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs have the stomach to actually go through with it.
