Toronto Maple Leafs forward Scott Laughton injured his leg during a preseason game last week, and the team has been scrambling for a replacement ever since.
Scott Laughton was looking to have a bounce-back campaign after a disappointing 2024-25 season in which he underperformed with the Philadelphia Flyers and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Unfortunately, he injured his leg in a game against the Detroit Red Wings, which made it clear that Laughton could be out for weeks at a time.
Brad Treliving speaks on Scott Laughton
The regular season begins tonight against the Montreal Canadiens, and the Maple Leafs still don't have very much clarity on the Laughton situation.
While speaking to reporters, general manager Brad Treliving made it abundantly clear that there is still a lot to figure out when it comes to the center.
Scott Laughton (lower body) will be out for «a few weeks» per Leafs GM Brad Treliving.
He adds they'll know more about his status over the next week or two.
Within the next couple of weeks, the team will have a better sense of what is going on, but it does seem like the forward could be out for an entire month.
If this is the case, then the Maple Leafs are going to have to rely on their depth, as
Nicolas Roy is now going to the fourth line, with
Max Domi taking over third-line center.
Overall, the Maple Leafs have an amazing roster, and it will be interesting to see how they tackle the Canadiens tonight.
Either way, we wish Laughton the best over the coming weeks as he looks to return from his injury.
