Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson has been wrapped up in numerous trade rumors, and a new suggestion sees the forward going to the Vancouver Canucks.
Nick Robertson is a player who continues to be thrown into trade rumors, even though the Maple Leafs seem to be keen on keeping him right now.
Just a few months ago, the trade proposals were running rampant, and even today, we still see analysts throwing in their two cents on a potential trade.
In fact, Dave Benson of Heavy.com recently put out a piece in which he theorized what the Leafs might do with Robertson, given the Vancouver Canucks being in need of a forward right now.

As Benson suggests, the Canucks could get Robertson for a second-round pick, which is pretty good value for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Leafs need draft capital, and having another second round pick in their back pocket could do wonders when the trade deadline comes around.
"From Vancouver's side, the fit is almost too neat. Hoglander's absence leaves a hole in the exact tier of the lineup where Robertson could slot. He's cheap, under team control, and still carries enough upside to be more than just a stopgap.

Brad Treliving would have a lot to think about here, although for now, it does feel like the Leafs are better off with Robertson on the roster.
Going forward, it is going to be fascinating to see what the Leafs want to do with their roster, which has shown itself to be quite deep.
That said, if Robertson has no long-term future in Toronto, then perhaps it is smart to rip the band-aid off.
