Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand is going to be in for an interesting offseason, as free agency is set to begin just days following the Stanley Cup Finals.
Brad Marchand remains one of the best veteran players in the NHL. At 37 years old, he was able to get 51 points in 71 games. He now has 15 points in 18 playoff games.
Overall, the forward has been a beast with the Panthers, but this summer, he is going to become a free agent, which means he can choose to leave the franchise.
Where is Brad Marchand going in free agency?
According to
Chris Johnston of TSN and The Athletic, the chances of Marchand testing the open market are actually very high.
Brad Marchand expected to test the open market, will allow a bidding war and will be open-minded about which team he plays for
At 37 years old, that would be quite the salary. For all intents and purposes, this is probably going to be his final professional contract, so he is going to want to choose the right home.
Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is going to try to be very active during this time, and we are interested to see what he is going to do.
Fans are going to expect some big swings in the offseason, especially if
Mitch Marner ends up leaving, which everyone believes he will.
This is one of the most important Leafs offseasons in years, and the scrutiny on the front office is going to be extremely intense, for better or for worse.
