Sam Bennett and the Florida Panthers are negotiating a new deal in the midst of the Stanley Cup Finals, but the Toronto Maple Leafs are there waiting in the wings.

The Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers are currently battling it out to see who will win the Stanley Cup championship in 2025.
So far, the Oilers have the upper hand as they were able to win the first game in overtime. However, in the midst of this battle, the Panthers and Sam Bennett have some business that needs to be attended to.
The two are in the midst of contract negotiations, and with July 1st coming up fast, many are wondering whether or not Bennett will test the market.

Is Sam Bennett returning to the Florida Panthers?

While speaking on TSN 1050, Pierre LeBrun had an interesting revelation about Bennet and the Panthers that is going to raise some eyebrows as the Stanley Cup Finals play out.
Essentially, both sides are far apart in their negotiations. While we don't know what Bennett's preferred salary is, we do know that some teams are willing to pay him $10 million per season. A number that the Panthers clearly are not interested in.
Sam Bennett and Panthers haven't been close in negotiations; he may stay but there are believed to be teams willing to pay 10m per for him
While most insiders have tried to dispute the report that Bennett wants $10 million, LeBrun is staying firm in his convictions and will not budge.
Note: the "10m per" claim has been disputed by other insiders, but LeBrun said today that he believes there are indeed teams willing to go there

Either way, this opens up a golden opportunity for the Toronto Maple Leafs. According to reports, Bennett and the Leafs have mutual interest in one another.
Furthermore, with Mitch Marner potentially leaving Toronto, this opens up a golden opportunity for the Leafs to improve their roster with the $26 million in cap space they have right now.
This is going to be a fascinating storyline throughout the next few weeks, and we will continue to follow along.
