New York Rangers Commit a Heist on the Toronto Maple Leafs Prior to Free Agency

With free agency just a short while away, the New York Rangers have made a major move that just so happens to be at the detriment of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Recently, the
Toronto Maple Leafs lost assistant coach Lane Lambert to the Seattle Kraken, who hired him as their next head coach.
Since that time, the Leafs have been looking for a replacement to fill Lambert's shoes. One name that has been brought up is Joe Sacco, who was recently let go as the interim head coach of the Boston Bruins.
I believe Joe Sacco was told he will not stay as the head coach of the Boston Bruins. I'm wondering if he could end up in Toronto replacing Lane Lambert.
This morning, Sacco's fate was sealed as Marco Sturm was named as the next head coach of the Boston Bruins. However, Sacco got some good news soon after.
New York Rangers to hire Joe Sacco
According to Ranger reporter Mollie Walker, the Rangers have nabbed Sacco away from the Toronto Maple Leafs. He is reportedly set to join Mike Sullivan's coaching staff.
Overall, the New York Rangers had a pretty bad season in 2024-25, and they definitely need the new coaching staff to get this team on track.
As for the Toronto Maple Leafs, they must now continue to search for a new assistant coach who can aid Craig Berube for the upcoming season.
Given the proximity to free agency, it seems like keeping the players happy might just be the organization's priority right now.
